Hertsmere Leisure
Creation of a brand-led online onboarding and induction programme to induct new team members.

Hertsmere leisure’s aim, was to get new colleagues feeling part of the business as quickly as possible; to understand what they stand for, strategic goals, key personnel, key principles, expectations and benefits.
In 2014, Hertsmere Leisure launched their online learning portal in partnership with Elearn4business.  Through their portal they offer a range of learning programmes to support the development of their people.
As a business with multiple locations, geographically spread, they needed to make best use of their portal while improving the consistency of message.

We created a brand-led experience that explored key business areas, to help new starters get up and running as quickly as possible.  Here’s a snapshot of some of the key elements that made this learning a success.
Personality – a strong brand identity and story that runs throughout
Efficiency – designed for use by all
Exploratory and self-paced – open, non-linear design
Practical application – short, efficient and engaging resource, delivering key messages
Clear messages – from the outset, creating a sense of belonging
Louise Curtis, Hertsmere Leisure HR Manager, confirms the impact it’s had:
“Our induction eLearning programme was part of our aim to simplify and join up our induction experience for all of our colleagues in different roles within the business. We engaged with our workforce development team to develop the content and support the roll out. People love the look and feel of the programme which is very much in keeping with our brand and values”
“Elearn4business understood our requirement and worked with us to get the best from our platform, materials and budget. They were flexible with timings and ensured the project was delivered on time”.

Finesse Leisure Partnership
Providing a selection of courses that would provide core corporate training to all new and existing team members, to improve the onboarding experience and also enable admin to monitor, track and reports on usage across all sites (leisure centres, parks and golf).

Find a solution that would give all colleagues easy access to health & safety awareness courses via an online platform within a very short time period and at a time to suit the operational needs of the business.

Following consultation, Finesse Leisure selected five courses from the LEISURE ESSENTIAL course library, which Elearn4business delivers to clients through their own learning management platform or a client’s own branded interface. Finesse Leisure opted for a branded learning environment to both enhance the overall learning experience for team members across the business and to have greater control over user management i.e. tracking and reporting.
Alex Bedford (Operations Director) commented; "results to date have been impressive, not only because of the business benefits (we have seen over 700 online courses completed), but because elearning has proved to be a positive experience for colleagues in a variety of job functions. The team at Elearn4business have always been flexible to meet the needs of our business and their licence scheme works well for us. We have also gone on to work with them on the creation of our bespoke company induction. We look forward to continuing to work with them as our elearning partner".

Fusion Lifestyle
Fusion Lifestyle were looking for a Learning Management System(LMS) and courseware for the online element of their established learning and development framework, namely the Fusion Academy.

The solution was to further enhance their strategic vision of delivering high quality and consistent training that would remain sustainable and efficient.

A key requirement was to develop a library of bespoke courses, relevant to Fusion rather than any reliance on generic off-the-shelf courses. Fusion wanted to ensure that their team of subject matter experts were involved in the creation of the new courses.

They also wanted to move away from the price-per-user model, which was not sustainable given the size of their workforce (c.3500). In addition, they were looking to source a Learning Management System (LMS) that could provide them with the required reports, audits, surveys and flexibility to grow in line with the needs of the business.

We made recommendations on the most appropriate Learning Management System (LMS) for their needs and in partnership with them created the online element of their established learning and development framework, the Fusion Academy, as well as a branded portal configured to Fusion’s requirements.

In parallel, we set out to work with their service providers and internal compliance team to create the first of many courses for their employees. Liaising with the team to source content and developing this content into engaging, interactive elearning courses.
Working in partnership with Fusion’s Learning and Development team, we have effectively deployed resources to provide financially viable solutions and an extensive catalogue of courses.

By positioning Fusion as a leader of elearning, they have gone on to receive accolade from peers and colleagues for the quality of learning provision within the leisure sector.
As James Duncan (Learning & Development Manager) says: Without the benefit of engaging and dynamic elearning as well as ongoing support from Elearn4business, we would be unable to achieve training on the scale we require, given the number of sites and geographical locations we have in our portfolio. Working with the team at Elearn4business is a real pleasure, they have taken time to understand the needs of our business and have always gone that extra mile to provide the right solutions and support when needed. We value their partnership and look forward to the continued support of their team in the years to come.

Fit For Sport
As part of their ongoing commitment to providing team members with first class training resources, Fit for Sport made the decision to have a series of modules developed and added to their existing catalogue of online learning resources.

We set out to find the most appropriate solution, to create and deliver a series of branded modules that made up the set of ‘common core units’ that Fit for Sport would provide to all team members via their existing online learning portal. This had to be achieved within strict budget and brand guidelines.

Following a detailed review of the content with the team at Fit for Sport we started to outline the best way to convert the content into user-friendly online modules. With shared opinions and consideration of the end user experience, we designed the framework for the modules. Once all the elements were approved we moved onto the final stages of development before publishing the modules and making them available to all team members.
As Jack Shakespeare (Head of Training & Education) says, we have been using the online 'common core units' as an integral part of our new activity professional’s induction programme. We have also been awarded the coveted Ofsted registration, of which the 'common core units' form part of the base line training. We have gone on to develop further courses with the team at Elearn4Business, including safeguarding and our company induction. The team at Elearn4Business are a key partner for Fit for Sport in our continued quest to innovate and further enhance the learning and development offering to our colleagues.
